Highlights of Neurosurgery Operations at the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Chongqing University: Resection of Giant Intraventricular Space-Occupying Lesions via Endoport

Publish Date: 2025/7/21

With the increasing development of various new technologies and instruments, the minimally invasive concept of neurosurgery is gradually being realized. Contemporary neurosurgery has developed into minimally invasive neurosurgery under the guidance of minimally invasive concepts. Minimally invasive neurosurgery requires surgeons to minimize iatrogenic interference and damage to the patient's brain tissue during surgery, keeping the patient's body in a stable internal environment. Through smaller incisions, the lesion can be cleared to the maximum extent possible, minimizing systemic and local inflammatory reactions, in order to achieve the best therapeutic effect.
Director Yang Haifeng of the Department of Neurosurgery at Chongqing University Affiliated Cancer Hospital is dedicated to researching the precision surgical treatment system for brain tumors and the mechanisms of brain tumor occurrence and development, continuously studying and promoting the concept and technology of minimally invasive surgery in neurosurgery. Director Yang's team recently completed a resection surgery for a large intraventricular space occupying lesion using Endoport channel surgical technique
Surgical difficulty: The tumor is huge and almost fills the ventricular system; Abundant blood supply; The adhesion and entanglement between the deep side and the deep venous system make surgery very difficult.
Response strategy: 1. Block stress reduction; 2. Protect veins; Operate under Endoport 3 to protect the cortex and subcortical fiber bundles, ultimately achieving complete tumor resection.
Director Yang Haifeng's team completed the surgery under the protection of Endoport throughout the entire process. This tumor resection case also reflects the trend of neurosurgery anatomy, philosophy, technology, and exploratory spirit gradually integrating!
